Residents of India can now travel to St. Kitts and Nevis visa-free. An agreement between the two governments was signed February 16, 2018 in Basseterre by Minister of Foreign Affairs the Honourable Mark Brantley and His Excellency Venkatachalam Mahalingnam, High Commissioner of India to St. Kitts and Nevis.

At the signing, the High Commissioner of India pledged to work with government in India to reciprocate the visa-free travel agreement for St. Kitts and Nevis passport holders in the near future.

The agreement is an important step toward strengthening relations between the two countries who already share a mutual respect. Cricket was citied as one of the reasons for this—India and St. Kitts & Nevis have long engaged in playful competition on the cricket field. By making travel between the two countries easier, it will allow for more opportunities for citizens to interact with each other.

There is a large Indian population/community in St. Kitts & Nevis, and with the new agreement, it is hoped that population will continue to increase and grow.

In September of 2017 St. Kitts & Nevis signed a similar type of agreement with Russia except that agreement was a reciprocal one meaning St. Kitts & Nevis passport holders are able to visit Russia visa-free and vice versa. St. Kitts & Nevis has signed other similar agreements with 11 other countries over the past year.

In total, St. Kitts & Nevis passport holders enjoy visa-free travel to over 130 countries around the world including the المملكة المتحدة and countries in the European Union.
