Year in Review: St. Kitts & Nevis

For the small Caribbean nation of St. Kitts & Nevis, 2017 was a year that brought great progress and much to celebrate—from a new tourism website to stronger diplomatic ties and everything in between. Even though it may only be the early days of 2018, St. Kitts & Nevis is showing no signs of slowing down. In fact, Bloomberg media has named St. Kitts & Nevis amongst the top tourism destinations in the world for 2018!

Gaining a second citizenship in St. Kitts & Nevis comes with many benefits aside from just a thriving economy. The Citizenship by Investment program is a true pioneer in the industry and has been in operation since 1984. In fact, many programs from neighbouring nations were modelled off of the success of the St. Kitts & Nevis’ program.

Citizenship offers many benefits from a tax and wealth planning standpoint. Foreign nationals do not have to pay income tax, estate taxes, or inheritance/succession taxes. Additionally, the standard corporate tax rate is 33% but there are many tax breaks available for qualified businesses. St. Kitts & Nevis also offers a 10-year passport—a benefit that will save on administrative time and costs.

For those who are looking to speed up the process, there is an accelerated option available. Rather than the already reasonable standard processing time of three to six months, for an additional fee, applicants can opt to have a 60-day processing time. And it should be noted that it is not uncommon for this accelerated option to take as little as just 45 days for citizenship to be granted.

St. Kitts & Nevis’ citizenship by investment program offers exceptional value, and until March 30, 2018 the already reasonable fees have been further reduced. Up to the March 30 deadline, the minimum contribution amount for a family of four will be reduced to just USD $150,000. For residents of the UAE, there is a consulate in Dubai which means citizens can receive services while in the UAE if they are in need.
