|||Good news for investors looking to gain residency in Canada—the Quebec Immigrant Investor Program (QIIP) is reopening on May 29, 2017.
One of the most popular citizenship by investment programs globally, the QIIP offers investors a number of clear benefits.
The main benefit of the program is a permanent resident visa with a successful application. Canada has one of the most coveted passports in the world, and this could be your chance to have your own. The other benefit of the QIIP is automatic permanent resident status for spouse/common-law partners and children under the age of 19 with a successful application. Successful applicants also enjoy benefits like universal healthcare, free public education, and access to high quality post-secondary education.

- Have net assets of at least $1,600,000 CAD that have been obtained legally (can be personal or combined with spouse)
- Have experience in management (a minimum of two years’ experience) in a farming, commercial, or industrial business
- There are two ways to participate. For the first option is very straightforward. It’s simply involves a one-time $220,000 CAD non-refundable walk-away investment. This is an attractive option for many applicants.
- The second option is to Invest $800,000 CAD in a fund that is guaranteed by the Quebec government, and fully refundable after a five-year period (with zero interest)
For both options, applicants are required to attend an interview in Quebec before the application is approved. Once approval of the application is granted, applicants must land in the province of Quebec, but are not obligated to reside there—you can live in any Canadian province or territory—but applicants must live in Canada to fulfill the residency requirements to gain citizenship.

The capital, Quebec City, is a modern city contained within ancient walls. The ramparts surrounding Old Quebec are the only fortified walls north of Mexico and are a designed UNESCO World Heritage Site.
