Like many islands in the Caribbean, Grenada was sighted by Christopher Columbus. But unlike many of its neighbours, European settlement came later to Grenada due to the resistance of its indigenous peoples. However, eventually, French settlement and colonization took hold in 1650 and continued for over 100 years.

In 1763, Grenada was ceded to the British under the Treaty of Paris and British rule continued—minus a small disruption by the French from 1779-1783—until Grenada become a a fully independent nation from Great Britain in 1974.

Nicknamed “The Spice Isle”, tourism, agriculture, and manufacturing contribute to the majority of Grenada’s nearly billion dollar GDP.

The Citizenship by Investment Programme was established in August, 2013 when the Grenadian Parliament passed Act No. 15 of 2013 which is more commonly referred to as “Grenada Citizenship by Investment Act, 2013”. The objective of passing the Act was to enable applicants to gain permanent residence and citizenship through investing in Grenada.

There have been several amendments to the Act since its initial passing, and the program has grown to be known as one of the most exclusive and rewarding in the Caribbean.

There are two options for applicants:

1. A minimum USD $200,000 payment into the National Transformation Fund
2. A minimum USD$350,000 payment toward an approved real estate project in Grenada

The citizenship by investment program offers successful applicants many benefits including visa-free travel to over 130 countries including the UK, Canada, and most countries in the European Union. A Grenadian passport also offers holders an opportunity to obtain an E-2 visa in the United States of America.

Grenada’s citizenship by investment program does not include a residency requirement in person interview, language test, minimum education level, or proof of business experience, which makes it a very attractive program for investors living overseas.
